Now, he is Vice Precident of Indonesia and he was the 10th Vice Precident
of Indonesia from 2004-2009, who is he? That’s right, Mr.Jusuf Kalla (JK).
Besides as a Vice Precident of Indonesia, JK is a successful businessman too.
Muhammad Jusuf Kalla was born in Watampone, May 15th
, 1942. His father is Haji Kalla, a businessman from Bugis with his company
group named Kalla Group. JK is the second children of the seventeen siblings.
He was married to Mufidah and they had 5 children. JK graduated from the
Economic Faculty at Hasanuddin University(1967) and The Europe Institute of
Business Administration, France (1977).
In 1968, JK was the CEO of NV Hadji Kalla. At
the beginning of the business had only one employee and business was slow. In
his hand NV Hadji Kalla was growing rapidly. NV Hadji Kalla expanded from the
export-import trading business into other sectors like hotels, infrastructure
construction, car dealership, aerobridges, shipping, real estate,
transportation, a shrimp farm, oil palm, and telecommunications. NV Hadji Kalla
is known as one of big companies in Makassar. Because of his other activities,
now the company is led by his sister Fatimah Kalla.
JK is a hard worker,
honest, down to earth, and religious man. Because of his achievement,
from 1979 to 1989 he was chosen as a chairman of the Indonesian Economics
Graduates Association (ISEI) in Makassar and continues to be an adviser for
(ISEI). From 1985 to 1998 he was chairman for Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(KADIN) in South Sulawesi and east coordinator for KADIN in eastern Indonesia.
In addition, Kalla is on the board of trustees for three universities in
Makassar. Kalla has contributed socially by building the Al Markaz Moswue and
becoming chairman of its Islamic centre.

I think your sentence good enough, but I think your sentence will be better if you write it like this:
At the beginning of "his business", "he only had" one employee and "his business was slow."
- NV Hadji Kalla is known as one of big companies in Makassar.
I think you must change “is” with “has”. Because I think it is Present Perfect.
NV Hadji Kalla “has” known as one of big companies in Makassar.

HapusI'm sorry before, in sentence 'NV Hadji Kalla 'has' known as.....' In Indonesia I mean 'NV Hadji Kalla 'dikenal' sebagai... So I use passive voice not present perfect sentence.
